There are three main ways in which essential oils are used: Aromatically, Topically, and Internally. This is the basic break down:

Internally
Certain essential oils can be taken internally for various benefits or to enhance the flavor of foods. Yep, it’s true — you can cook with essential oils! They can also be used in vegetable capsules or blended with smoothies, lemonades, or teas.
However, you should always research an oil before ingesting it as certain oils, like wintergreen, are toxic when ingested. Thankfully my most trusted oil company labels each oil clearly with its appropriate usages. Always follow guidelines and only ingest an oil approved for internal use. When taking oils internally in vegetable capsules, they should always be taken with plenty of water. Don’t forget that less is more with oils! A drop or two will do ya.
